It is pleased to share that our PhD graduates, Cheng Zhang and Feng Wang, have had their technical article titled “Automated UAV Image-to-BIM Registration for Planar and Curved Building Façades Using Structure-from-Motion and 3D Surface Unwrapping ” accepted for publication in the Elsevier journal of Automation in Construction.
It is pleased to share that Dr Yang Zou has been elected as a Board of Directors (BoD) member for the prestigious International Association for Automation and Robotics in Construction (IAARC).
We are delighted to share Dr Yang Zou has been appointed as an Associate Editor for Construction Innovation journal. Before that, Yang was working as an assistant editor for the same journal for two years.
We are delighted to share that we have a new group member, Yan LI (李妍). Yan, originally from China, finished her bachelor’s and master’s degrees at Dalian University of Technology and Harbin Institute of Technology, respectively.
I am delighted to share that our PhD gradaute Xiaofei Yang just had his paper titled ‘Automated Concrete Bridge Damage Detection Using an Efficient Vision Transformer-Enhanced Anchor-Free YOLO’ accepted by Engineering (Elsevier) after an extensive one-and-a-half-year review process.
I am delighted to share that we won the Best Paper Award at the recent 6th International Conference on Civil and Building Engineering Informatics (ICCBEI 2025) for our paper, “Enhancing Knowledge Capture and Reuse for Offsite Construction Through a Container-Based Knowledge Approach”.

Yang Zou attended the 16th Australian Network of Structural Health Monitoring (ANSHM) Workshop, held at RMIT University on 21–22 November 2024. He delivered a technical presentation titled “Rapid In-Flight Image Quality Check for UAV-Based Bridge Inspection.
